We study the History of Art according to themes based on period, region or style such as Western Art. We have now progressed from 1400 to the beginning of the 16th century; Art of the Baroque, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands; The most important artists of the last 600 years; The Art of Northern Europe, Jan Van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch.
We have used a DVD based programme from the Great Studies series. Meetings have been interspersed with visits to Art Galleries in the North West. We had guided tours of Manchester City Art Gallery, and of the Victorian Treasures Exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
In addition, some members have viewed the Exhibition Presentations at Parrs Wood Cinema on Goya, Monet at Giverny, and Michelanglo.
Further details of our programmes are given in the Newsletters which can be found in the Links section of the Welcome page of this website.
